Smogon / Pokemon Showdown

The primary source for competitive Pokemon data including base stats, types, abilities, learnsets (level-up, TM, egg, tutor moves), items, natures, and type charts.

Data accessed via the @pkmn/dex package.

PokéAPI

A free, open RESTful API providing detailed Pokemon data including evolution chains, species metadata, item descriptions, TM/machine mappings, and game-specific information.

Bulbapedia

The community-driven Pokemon encyclopedia. Used for location encounter data (wild Pokemon per area, biomes, encounter rates, level ranges) and item location data for Scarlet & Violet, including Paldea, Kitakami, and Blueberry Academy.

Content is available under CC BY-NC-SA 2.5.

PokeDB

A structured JSON dataset aggregating PokéAPI and PokemonDB data across all generations. Used for enriched Pokemon metadata including catch rates, egg groups, gender ratios, growth rates, EV yields, and evolution chain details.

PokéAPI Sprites

Pokemon sprites served from the PokéAPI sprite repository. Includes official artwork, front/back sprites, shiny variants, and form-specific sprites for all generations.
